Nicolas Macrozonaris lost a 100m race last Friday night at the Harry Jerome International Track Classic in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Fine. Let’s not make too big a deal of it.
Macrozonaris was defeated by Anson Henry, a good sprinter but one more used to watching the backside of Canada’s fastest man pull away from him.
I would also hazard to guess that the only people not surprised with the result on the Swangard Stadium track were Macrozonaris and his inner circle.

When Macrozonaris moved to Edmonton in March to work with Kevin Tyler, he left much more than hometown distractions behind; gone and very forgotten were his entire 100m race and the preparations that go with it.
Since then he has worked primarily on nailing down his new start technique out of the blocks and on a new acceleration pattern in the first half of his race. What remains is work on the last part of his race and building the speed endurance for a sizzling 100m.
In all his outings to date this outdoor season Macrozonaris has come out very strong and very consistent, only to lose that edge by the end of the race. That is the piece that remains and is the last piece of the puzzle currently being worked on.
Aristotle once said that quality is not an act, but a habit. Good habits in a 100m race are what all sprinters seek - but they take a little time to learn.
Nic Macrozonaris is the defending Canadian 100m champion. He will be more than ready to contest for that title once again next month in Windsor.
